A pleasant surprise!

This morning we found out that one of the pairs of bushtits are building a nest in a tree within four feet of our window! They have been building ever since!

The male bushtit sitting in the incomplete nest.

The male again.

What a pleasant surprise!

Tryon creek state park.

Today we went to Tryon creek state park to look at trillium's.

Some red flowering currents.

An owl box for northern saw-whet owls.

A trillium.

Raptor cam news!

Check this out! Both the male and the female red-tailed hawk from downtown Portland! I read in my Audubon newsletter that the female has laid three eggs! Yeah!

Some more random wetland and park bird fun.

Another fluffy yellow-rumped warbler.

The bushtits have started pairing up!

A pied-billed grebe.

Two ruddy ducks.

A great blue heron building a nest!

Short-billed dowitcher, (middle)? Wilson's snipe (left and right).

A mourning dove came for a visit.

This little female Rufous hummer was perched here right outside our window for around 45 minutes until flying to the feeders!

Do you have any idea what these flowers are?

A pretty tree.

One of the many mallards hanging out here.

New poll.

A bushtit nest!

The next poll will be how many nests have you discovered in your area?
